Montana Educators’ Credit Union, in partnership with the University of Montana, is giving back to the people of Missoula County. The Orville Getz Scholarship is given annually to a teacher pursuing a masters or advanced administration degree.
Orville Getz passed away in 2011 following his retirement as superintendent of the Victor School District in Victor, Montana. He was very dedicated to lifelong learning and the success of credit unions, which led him to serve on the Board of Directors for the Montana Educators' Credit Union (MECU) for 10 years, including nine years as chairman of the board. Because so much of his career was focused on supporting up-and-coming teachers, an endowed scholarship took hold as an appropriate way to honor their former colleague, friend and leader.
If you are interested in learning more about the Orville Getz Memorial scholarship, please visit the Phyllis J. Washington College of Education and Human Sciences web page at: http://www.coehs.umt.edu/scholarships. Deadline and application information will be updated on the university website after the first of January 2017.
